  • 1) monopoly- to be in total control of a particular brand or item. for example: you own all the companies that make any type of video game

  • 2) monolith- a big block of stone, like the George Washington Monument

  • 3) monologue- to say a speech by yourself in front of an audience

  • 4) monophobia - an abnormal fear of being alone

5) monorail- a ride that runs on one rail (like at Disneyland)

6) monosyllabic - only having one syllable

  • 7) monotone- a vocal utterance or series of speech sounds in one unvaried tone. a plain flat voice

  • 1) polyhedron - having many bases or sides, like a pyramid

2) polychromatic- something that is many colors

3) polysyllabic- a word with many syllables

  • 4) polygraph= an instrument that can read a person's blood pressure, heartbeat and writes it down on a chart (a lie detector)

5) polygon - any shape with many sides: pentagon, octogon, etc.

  • 6) polytheism- the belief in many gods (ancient Egyptians, Romans, Greeks)

  • 7) polyglot- Able to speak many languages

  • 8) polymorphous- something that can change into many shapes

  • 9) polyclinic- a place that can treat many different diseases

  • 10) polydactyl- an animals with more than the normal amount of fingers or toes
