flex- and flect = to bend

1) circumflex- pronounced with or characterized by the quality, quantity, stress, or pitch indicated by such a mark.

2) deflect- to flex or turn aside

3) flexible- can bend easily without breaking.

  • 4) flexor- a muscle that serves to flex or bend a part of the body. muscle whose contraction bends a limb or other part of the body.

  • 5) inflection- modulation of the voice; change in pitch or tone of voice

6) reflect- to give back or show an image of; mirror. Like a mirror, if you look in a mirror you will see yourself.

7) reflection: the act or reflecting, as a mirror would show a reflection

  • 8) reflex angle- an angle greater then 180 degrees (but less then 360 degrees)

  • 9) retroflex- bent or curved backwards

10) inflexible-not flexible; incapable of or resistant to being bent

3) fracture- to break,crack,or shatter

4) fragment- a broken off or detached piece

5) fragile- easily broken, shattered, or damaged; delicate (Vanessa #15) Delicate, easy to break

7) frail- having delicate health

  • 8) infraction- to break the rules or violate; a violation: an infraction of the rules

  • 9) refract- the change of direction of a ray of light, sound, heat

  • 10) suffrage - the right to vote
