junct-, join-, and jug- = join or put together

  • 1) conjunction- words used in a sentence that combines or joins other words or phrases into one sentence (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so)

  • 2) disjointed: when something is not connected or joined or doesn't make sense

  • 3) jugular- the vein that joins the neck or throat.

  • 4) junction- an act of joining; combining; A place where two or more roads or railroad lines meet. (as in the television show Jungle Junction)

5) join: A point where two or more things are put together (like a gathering); to bring together in a particular relation

6) conjoined- part parts that are joined together, united, or linked

7) joint: a body part at which 2 bones come together so they can move

  • 8) conjugate- the list all the forms of a verb: One conjugates the present tense of the verb “be” as “I am, you are, he is, we are, you are, they are.”

  • 9) joint committee- a committee appointed from both houses of a legislature in order to reach a desicion

10) rejoin- To join together again


rupt- = to break or not together

  • 1) corrupt- guilty of dishonest practices (misbehave), as bribery,lacking integerity;crooked: a corrupt judge.


2) interruption- a disturbance of when something is already happening.

3) disrupt- to cause disorder by acting out in class

4) erupt- what the volcano does when it bursts out lava

  • 5) corruptible- a person who is easily talked into doing something that is against the law

  • 6) rupture- when a tissue or organ suddens bursts open and you must have surgery

7) interrupt-to cause or make a break into someone's conversation


8) disruption- when a person makes silly noises in class and interrupts learning

  • 9) abrupt- sudden or unexpected change

10) bankrupt- if you lose all of your money that you have saved
